Four leading holiday companies comment on the busiest holiday booking month. Accelerated by significant temperature drops across the country.
Commenting on the busiest holiday booking month, four leading holiday companies experts say that the recent cold snap and a new low deposit campaign have seen bookings for summer 2015 soar with both Greece and Majorca up over 70% year on year. Bookings to Cuba are up and Dubai endures in popularity for long weekend shopping trips and some much needed warm weather.
Natasha Lee, head of product at travel specialist letsgo2.com said: “This is always a key time for sun-starved British holidaymakers to seek out and secure a bargain, and this past week we’ve seen enquiries for the Caribbean and Far East increase three-fold, with Barbados proving especially popular due to great prices and the new Sandals resort. Bookings to Cuba are up – perhaps due to the recent announcement that relations between the island and the USA are changing, and Dubai endures in popularity for long weekend shopping trips and some much needed warm weather.”
Jason Waldron, Product and Marketing Director for Broadway Travel commented: “The recent cold snap and a new low deposit campaign have seen bookings for summer 2015 soar with both Greece and Majorca up over 70% year on year. Halkidiki is proving very popular with some fantastic deals to the new IKOS Olivia driving sales and bookings to Madeira are also up due to the new BA flights that start in May.”
Dan Yates founder of outdoor accommodation specialist Pitchup.com said “Whilst we note that some Brits are trying escape the chilly climes of the UK currently – it isn’t just holidays abroad that are proving popular. Pitchup.com bookings have soared 129% since Christmas day, versus the previous week. Cornwall is up 244%, Scotland 56% compared to France at 567%.”
Ski Solutions has seen a 49% YOY increase in visits to Skisolutions.com from 27th December when the major snow storm hit the Alps. It appears that skiers had waited before Christmas to see where the snow would fall in the Alps. Now it has arrived (over half metre of snow fell widely across France and Switzerland last weekend) the phones have been ringing off the hook.
