LCY welcomes first Cityjet flight from Cork

Located in the south-western province of Munster, Cork is Ireland’s second-largest city and a former European Capital of Culture. County Cork is the home of the famous Blarney Stone, which when kissed is said to pass on the ‘gift of the gab.’

London City Airport (LCY) welcomed the first flight on Cityjet’s new route from Cork this morning, landing on time at the only airport in London at 09:05. The maiden flight is one of 18 a week that the Irish airline will operate, including one on Saturdays and two on Sundays.

LCY’s Chief Operating Officer Darren Grover was on hand to greet Patrick Lukan, Cityjet’s Vice President of Sales and Distribution, along with the route’s first passengers, saying: “We are very pleased to welcome Cityjet’s first flight from Cork this morning.  Ireland is a very important market for LCY – Dublin for example is one of our top three routes, accounting for more than 10% of our total passenger numbers so far this year – and we look forward to welcoming many more passengers travelling between LCY and Cork over the coming weeks and months.”
