Fairs and Exhibitions (F&E), organisers of Dubai 2003, the eighth international aerospace exhibition, has announced that 95 per cent of the show has now been reserved following a high profile promotion at the Paris air show earlier this month.

Around 900 square metres of space was reserved by companies contacted during Le Bourget, said Clive Richardson, Chief Executive, F&E.

Reservations have been made by companies from the USA, Switzerland, the UK, Ukraine, UAE, Italy and France, he said, according to a report in Khaleej Times.

Together with the Department of Civil Aviation, Government of Dubai, F&E operated both a chalet and a stand at Le Bourget. Our first stand at Paris proved to be worthwhile and attracted numerous trade exhibitors requesting more information on exhibitor potential, said Richardson. New exhibitors contracted for Dubai 2003 include complete logistics support provider Commerce Overseas Corporation of the USA, machine tool specialist Muller Machines SA of Switzerland and leading fastening systems designer and manufacturer Fairchild Fasteners Aichach GmbH of Germany.

F&E believes the huge aircraft orders placed at Le Bourget by the UAE`s Emirates airline and Qatar Airways, placed the Middle East firmly in the international aviation spotlight and has helped drive interest in the Dubai air show. These orders, which included the largest aircraft order ever in aviation history, gave the industry a much-needed boost and were seen as further evidence, if any were needed, that the Middle East is one of the last remaining high potential aviation markets in the world. The reservations made and the interest still being shown means Dubai is now the world`s fastest-growing air show, in the fastest-growing air travel region and with the world`s fastest-growing airlines, said Alison Weller, Project Manager, F&E. To date, exhibitors from 26 countries have contracted for Dubai 2003 which also has national or industry pavilion commitments from Italy, the Czech Republic, the UK, USA, France, Germany, Russia and for the first time, Ukraine and Jordan.

Dubai 2003, will also host the inaugural Aviation Fire & Security International conference and exhibition (AFSI). An AFSI pavilion is being incorporated into the Airport Expo`s West Hall, while the AFSI conference will run at Airport Expo Dubai on December 10 and 11.
