Qatar Airways set to expand its USA network with the addition of three new routes

Additional non-stop daily flights announced to Los Angeles, Boston and Atlanta; Qatar Airways’ existing New York’s JFK daily service to become double-daily from 1st March 2016. Global launch customer of the Airbus A350 XWB will be the first carrier to bring the next-generation aircraft to the USA.

DOHA, QATAR – Qatar Airways announces the next phase of its USA route development with the introduction of three new passenger routes to Los Angeles, Boston and Atlanta. With these new destinations, Qatar Airways will offer daily nonstop services to all 10 of the largest metropolitan areas of the United States.

Effective 1st January, 2016, Qatar Airways will commence daily flights to Los Angeles, California, the second largest city in the United States, with the airline’s flagship Boeing 777 aircraft, which features a two-class cabin with 42 Business Class fully lie-flat seats in a 2-2-2 configuration.

From 16th March, 2016, the airline will launch daily flights to Boston, the capital and largest city of Massachusetts, and will operate its latest flagship A350 XWB in a two-class configuration with 36 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, featuring an 80” fully flat bed and 17” HD in-flight entertainment screen.

Atlanta, Georgia, the business centre of the southeast region of the United States, will be Qatar Airways’ third new route to the US and will commence with daily flights starting on 1st July 2016. The route will be operated with the airline’s flagship Boeing 777 aircraft.

Increasing passenger demand to America’s largest city and financial centre, New York, has prompted Qatar Airways to add a second daily service to the city from 1st March 2016. Qatar Airways has served the city daily since the initial route launch in 2007. The second daily service to New York’s JFK will be operated by the Airbus A350 XWB aircraft providing passengers an opportunity to experience both the Boeing B777 and the A350 aircraft types on the route.

The airline has seen rapid growth in just 18 years of operation to the point where today it is flying a modern fleet of 156 aircraft to 146 key business and leisure destinations. Among the 146 destinations currently served are Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Mumbai, New Delhi, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Jakarta and the Maldives – all with excellent connections from the US cities.

Qatar Airways wins major accolade at the Onboard Hospitality Awards in Hamburg
Qatar Airways emerged victorious at a recently held award night in Hamburg for offering excellence in delivering a premium five-star on-board product to its passengers.

The Onboard Hospitality Awards awarded the five-star airline’s Missoni sleeper suits as the best in ‘Textiles’ category, chosen through an online vote and judged by an independent panel of industry experts against set criteria.

Qatar Airways won the coveted award ahead of other leading global airlines at a lavish ceremony held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Hamburg, in the presence of guests from across the global travel, tourism and hospitality industries.

Receiving the award, Qatar Airways Senior Vice President Customer Experience, Rossen Dimitrov said: “Qatar Airways is honoured to receive this recognition from esteemed industry experts. The award is a testament to the high standards of luxury, comfort and excellence that Qatar Airways offers to its passengers. Over the years, the airline has revolutionised air travel with the most lavish five-star indulgence in the sky.”

Qatar Airways is the first and only international carrier to offer products by Missoni. The Italian fashion house has designed stylish and luxurious sleeper suits paired with Missoni slippers to guarantee sophistication, exclusive comfort and the ultimate in relaxation for its passengers. Qatar Airways’ Missoni sleeper suits were the only entry into the Onboard Hospitality Awards that offered a separate set of products for male and female passengers.

Qatar Airways has won multiple awards recently including being named “World’s Most Dependable Airline” in a comprehensive study published by CBS MoneyWatch and WanderBat. The airline has also been recognised as “World’s Best Business Class” and “Best Middle Eastern Airline” in 2014 by Skytrax, as well as “World’s Best Airline” in 2011 and 2012.

Qatar Airways wins Airline with the Best Business Class at the Annual Business Traveller Middle East Awards
Qatar Airways has also been named the Airline with the Best Business Class at the Business Traveller Middle East Awards 2015 based on the votes of readers of the Middle East edition of the prominent industry magazine Business Traveller.

The coveted award was presented at a glittering awards ceremony at the Conrad Hotel in Dubai, UAE, putting the spotlight on the Doha-based airline’s five-star service ahead of the Arabian Travel Market, where Qatar Airways has a major presence.

Rohan Seneviratne, Qatar Airways Country Manager UAE, collected the award on behalf of the airline, adding to the international recognition the carrier has gained with a growing list of awards. Voting by readers of Business Traveller Middle East was based on the strength of the airline’s renowned five-star service.
