Serko names U.S.-based Board Director Claudia Batten as its new Chair

The announcement follows several key milestones for the company, with S&P Dow Jones Indices recently including Serko in the NZX 50, and the Hi-Tech Awards naming Serko as Company of the Year for 2020.

Serko Limited announced this week that Claudia Batten, an experienced U.S.-based technology executive and existing board member, will take over the role of Chair.

“Claudia’s global experience will be invaluable for Serko as we progress to the next stage of our international expansion,” said Serko CEO Darrin Grafton. “The focal point of our strategic growth initiatives center on the U.S. and Europe, and her in-market expertise and presence in North America will be invaluable.”

Batten welcomed the announcement from her Los Angeles base: “It will be an honor to serve as the Chair of Serko. Notwithstanding the COVID-19 pandemic, Serko continues to see material opportunities for international growth and I’m excited to be able to oversee the governance of Serko during a pivotal period in the company’s history. Serko has firmly established itself in the North American market with approximately 20% of our people in the U.S. and a growing base of TMC partners and corporate customers.”

“As a founder, entrepreneur and manager of people I have personally experienced the frustration of current business travel and expense solutions. We have big ambitions for our products, despite the current macroeconomic conditions, and we are committed to continuing to build for the future of travel and expense,” continued Batten.

The announcement follows several key milestones for the company, with S&P Dow Jones Indices recently including Serko in the NZX 50, and the Hi-Tech Awards naming Serko as Company of the Year for 2020.

Simon Botherway, Serko’s Chair since the company’s initial stock exchange listing in 2007, continues to play an active role in the governance of the organization and remains on the board as an independent Director of the company.
