Sun Country Airlines announces new service to Santa Rosa/Sonoma County, California, and Austin, Texas

Minnesota-based airline now services 40 destinations.

MINNEAPOLIS – Sun Country Airlines (Sun Country) announces nonstop seasonal service between Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota (MSP), and both Santa Rosa/Sonoma County, Calif. (STS), and Austin, Texas (AUS). The new flights offer Sun Country customers access to popular tourist destinations in California's wine country, and the capital city and cultural hub of the Lone Star State. The two destinations expand Minnesota's Hometown Airline route network to 40 domestic and international destinations.

Seasonal flights to Santa Rosa/Sonoma County and Austin will be offered August through December 2017 via Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, Terminal 2. The new destinations will fly one round-trip flight per week for 15 weeks, departing Thursdays and returning Sundays. Travel to Santa Rosa/Sonoma County will be available from Aug. 24 through Dec. 3 and to Austin from Aug. 31 to Dec. 10.

Sonoma County provides Midwest travelers with a desired weekend getaway option with flights offered during the region's crush harvest season in the fall, complete with wine, beer, film and art festivals.

"The addition of Sonoma County to the family of Sun Country destinations gives our travelers a direct gateway to some of the wonders of California, from wine country to the beautiful redwoods," says Zarir Erani, Sun Country Airlines President and CEO. "We are excited to partner with Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport so our travelers can experience all of what Sonoma County has to offer."

Austin's growing music, entertainment and nightlife offers an opportunity for Midwest travelers to fly to the capital of Texas. Booming with live music and cultural cuisine, it is an ideal getaway for those looking for a southern escape.

"We are thrilled to give our customers an opportunity to visit Austin and experience its thriving music, arts, cuisine and culture," Erani said. "We look forward to flying into the Austin–Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) as our travelers visit the capital of the Lone Star State."

"The South Terminal's intimate and retro-vibe will offer Sun Country's passengers an airport experience as unique as Austin!"

Flight and hotel vacation packages for both destinations will be available through Sun Country Vacations.
