Sunwing introduces exclusive direct flight service to the island of Bonaire

The perfect destination for active travellers like divers or wind/kite surfers, Bonaire is recognized for its commitment to sustainable tourism practices and coral preservation.

TORONTO – Sunwing announced the addition of the Caribbean island of Bonaire to its ever-growing roster of sun destinations. Canada's #1 to the sun will operate a weekly flight between Toronto and Bonaire that will depart Sundays between December 17, 2017 and April 15, 2018 inclusive. The convenient flight service will provide Canadians with the only direct connection to this relatively undiscovered tropical gem, and complete Sunwing's service offering to the trio of the 'ABC Islands' that make up the Dutch Caribbean – Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao; making it the only Canadian tour operator to offer direct flights to all three.

The perfect destination for active travellers like divers or wind/kite surfers, Bonaire is recognized for its commitment to sustainable tourism practices and coral preservation. The tropical oasis is consistently rated as one of the top diving destinations in the world, and it boasts 86 dive sites which are home to 57 different corals and some 350 fish species. On-land adventures are equally varied ranging from hiking up the island's tallest peak, Brandaris, for stunning ocean views to relaxing in the diminutive and colourful capital, Kralendijk.

President of Tour Operations, Andrew Dawson, welcomed the news adding, "Saving our customers time and money by providing them with direct access to the most popular sunshine destinations is central to our commitment of delivering an exceptional vacation experience. We are therefore extremely pleased to be able to add this unique Caribbean island to our roster, and are sure that it will prove to be a popular choice amongst our customers."

Maurice Adriaens, Director of Tourism Corporation Bonaire also commented. "Our award-winning island offers a variety of activities, both on land and in our marine park. We are excited to develop and deepen our partnership with Sunwing. We feel the addition of this flight service, together with the option of vacation packages at many of our most popular resorts, will give Bonaire greater exposure in the Canadian market and ensure the island is amongst the top Caribbean destinations to visit this winter."

Sunwing will be offering accommodation packages at a selection of the island's leading resorts; all of which boast picturesque oceanfront locations, Wi-Fi access, swimming pools, and delicious on-site restaurants together with the option to purchase a PADI-certified diving package. Those wishing to be close to the downtown scene while still enjoying a relaxing environment may wish to stay at the Divi Flamingo Resort and Casino; while divers and non-divers alike can opt for the inclusive Plaza Beach Resort, where snorkellers can explore the colourful coral reefs nearby. Diving enthusiasts will surely enjoy Buddy Dive Resort and its solid blend of action and relaxation, as well as the newly-built Delfins Beach Resort that caters to groups with one or two bedroom studios for a comfortable stay.
