The European Commission makes ICT available to tourism companies

The contents in Tourism-IT will be connected with business management, start-up, market information, legislation, marketing and sales, growth and finance.

Tourism-IT will be the European reference portal for tourism companies and is designed to offer reliable, up-to-date information to enable them to develop their businesses in each one of the Member States, with particular emphasis on SMEs. The Tourism-IT portal will make ICT tools available to European tourism companies in order to increase their competitiveness.

Its launch is planned for January 2014 and the portal wants to offer a global view of the information that exists on European web sites aimed at tourism companies, and to provide knowledge and ICT tools for business development.

It is a project carried out by and for the tourism sector, designed by the EC and developed by four organisations with wide experience in tourism, ICT and accessibility: SEGITTUR, GDTur, PlanetMedia and EASPD.

The contents in Tourism-IT will be connected with business management, start-up, market information, legislation, marketing and sales, growth and finance. It will also include a section with free access to e-toolkits to improve operational management and develop tourism products and the sustainability of SME business models; and regarding knowledge it will offer tools to hone promotional, communication and marketing skills, based on ICT.

Other sections worth mentioning are the accessibility section with relevant information and conclusions for tourism business stakeholders, and news on the latest features and events of interest.
