Unique Venues of London welcomes two new members

Unique Venues of London (UVL) is welcoming two new members to the consortium, the Serpentine Gallery and The Museum of London Docklands.

The Serpentine Gallery and The Museum of London Docklands bring the total number of Unique Venues of London up to 81, adding even more variety and excitement to the already impressive group representing a cross section of London.

A few highlights of the new member venues include:

Serpentine Gallery
Located within Kensington Gardens, the Grade II listed Neo-Classical building comprises four large rooms, including a high-domed space in the central gallery. Renowned for its focus on unusual and contemporary art, the Serpentine Gallery hosts a Summer Pavilion from June to October – showcasing temporary structures by internationally acclaimed architects and designers. Guests attending an event also enjoy picturesque views of the surrounding Royal Parks. Hiring the Gallery gives exclusive access to all four rooms, which can be set up around exhibitions in a number of formats.

Museum of London Docklands
The Museum of London Docklands uncovers London’s long history as a port through stories of trade, migration and commerce. The galleries tell the story of the dramatic changes that have affected the area, from life on the river to the world’s largest docks complex in the 19th century, which were swept away in the 20th century to be replaced by Canary Wharf’s current landscape.

The Museum’s home is a grade I listed early-19th century warehouse which stored sugar, rum and coffee.

Six event areas have been built around original pine columns and floors, which when combined with modern fittings cater for corporate entertaining, conferences or private events. There are also 11 expansive galleries ideal for evening events, with the venue able to host a drinks reception for up to 800.

Moya Maxwell, Head of Commercial Programming at the Royal Opera House and Chairman of UVL, comments: “These new members each bring their own charm and distinctiveness to the UVL family, and further enhance our reach across London. We are excited about moving the group forward with them on board and showing event organisers just what is available in our city”.
