Carlson Wagonlit Travel appoints new North America president

Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) has promoted Jack O’Neill to president, North America. The designation is in recognition for the region’s strong performance under O’Neill’s leadership as chief operating officer since August 2004.

During O’Neill’s tenure, through a combination of superior client retention, strong new sales and external growth, CWT North America has grown by nearly 350 percent from $2.5 billion in 2003 to a projected $8.6 billion in 2007. The company focuses on serving a broad client base, including global, multi-national, regional and local companies, as well as government institutions, all with varying needs and priorities.

“Jack’s leadership of the North American team, along with his tremendous focus on clients, has been invaluable in growing our business in North America,” commented Hubert Joly, president and chief executive officer for CWT. Joly added that O’Neill’s leadership during the Navigant integration has consistently provided clarity as the organization has worked through the implications of integrating people, processes and tools. “This appointment is acknowledgement of CWT North America’s strong performance,” Joly added.

As president moving forward, O’Neill will continue to lead the growth of CWT in North America, with a focus on delivering the value of effective travel management to clients, as well as expanding the company’s leisure and meetings travel offerings.

“I appreciate the recognition and share it with all of the terrific employees of CWT North America,” O’Neill offered, adding, “Our clients, suppliers, and shareholders have given us their vote of confidence as well. Their continued support enables our success each and every day. Our goal, as always, is to continue earning the business.”

Prior to joining CWT in 2004 through its acquisition of Maritz Corporate Travel (MCT), O’Neill was president of MCT. Prior to joining MCT, he held various management and executive posts with TWA, Braniff Airlines, and Burlington Air Express.
