Visitabudhabi i-Phone App gives information on the move

Built as a visual trip planner, the visitabudhabi iPhone app gives instant and structured information on all of the emirate's attractions and experiences, highlights Abu Dhabi's culture and heritage, provides full hotel listings and gives quick answers to most frequently-asked questions.

Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority
(TCA Abu Dhabi) has launched the emirate’s official destination iPhone app – a comprehensive, easy-to-navigate online and offline mobile guide on all there is to see and do in Abu Dhabi.

Downloadable for free via Apple Store, the new app is constantly fed with extensive, up-to-date information from the visitabudhabi.ae portal, making sure users have instant access to all that is new in the emirate, with content going straight to their mobile devices.

“This is yet another stage of our overall digital strategy,” said Mouza Al Shamsi, Marketing Director, TCA Abu Dhabi. “It joins our dynamic destination website and established core social media channels in an expanding digital product line-up. Now we are going mobile – first with iPhone, and then, by the end of this year, the app will be available on all key platforms – iPad, Android and Windows Phone.”

“We hope users are happy with the app but we are going to consistently monitor and fine-tune it to provide the best destination service possible.”

Built as a visual trip planner, the visitabudhabi iPhone app gives instant and structured information on all of the emirate’s attractions and experiences, highlights Abu Dhabi’s culture and heritage, provides full hotel listings and gives quick answers to most frequently-asked questions. Supported by an easy-to-navigate Abu Dhabi Systems & Information Centre (ADSIC) map and covering everything from the latest destination news and events to restaurants, malls and spas, the app is designed to inspire travellers to Abu Dhabi, inviting them to cool off on a cruising experience, marvel at the emirate’s architectural wonders, tee-off at one of Abu Dhabi’s championship-standard golf courses or embark on a once-in-a lifetime desert escape.

“Today, an increasing number of travellers check information on their mobile device – rather than on a computer or in a guide – it’s handy and it also gives visitors added options, which are platform-specific,” added Al Shamsi. “The ‘Near-By’ functionality, for example, lists hotels, restaurants and spas within easy reach. Visitors can also share their Abu Dhabi experience via Facebook and Twitter straight from the app.”

Reaching over three million visits a year, with a daily average of over 10,000 clicks, visitabudhabi.ae is a one-stop-shop for people wanting to explore the emirate, giving them easy access to interact, in any of nine languages (Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese and Chinese) with extensive, dynamic information on Abu Dhabi’s attractions and experiences, culture and heritage, events and recreation activities.

Conceived with travellers’ needs in mind, visitabudhabi’s multilingual hotel, flight and car search aggregates live deals and availability from booking engines, and is complimented by a trip planner facility, allowing travellers to build and share their virtual trips to Abu Dhabi.

Topping a quarter of a million Facebook fans, and 70,000 Twitter followers, the destination’s social media channels invite travellers to become active contributors to the destination, to post, comment, get inspired and share their experience.
