VisitorsCoverage’s Europe Travel Plus insurance now available for U.S. citizens travelling to Europe

Silicon Valley insurtech company upgrades popular policy to include border entry protection.

SANTA CLARA, CALIF. – Silicon Valley-based VisitorsCoverage, an online travel insurance insurtech company, announced that their popular Europe Travel Plus specialty international travel medical insurance policy is now available to U.S. citizens traveling to Europe. Europe Travel Plus was previously only available to non-U.S. citizens and includes an automatic Schengen visa application (if the purchaser’s country of origin required one) for travel to the 26 Schengen countries.

With international travel to Europe steadily increasing since the 1990s and continuing to grow, VisitorsCoverage created Europe Travel Plus to satisfy all the insurance needs of travelers to Europe. The new ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) will be required for travel to all Schengen Countries beginning in 2021 for travel up to 90 days. While U.S. citizens are not required to secure a Schengen visa, they will be required to complete the ETIAS application. The new and improved Europe Travel Plus plan has a new added benefit that includes a one-way economy class airline ticket and covers airline change fees if the insured is denied entry into Europe for a covered reason.

“14.2 million people used a Schengen visa to travel around Europe in 2018,” says Rajeev Shrivastava, CEO and founder of VisitorsCoverage. “Coverage for border entry denial provides peace of mind to the traveler should they find themselves without proper documentation or other entry mishaps. The addition of this unique benefit makes the Europe Travel Plus plan stand out among the other competing products in the market and proves timely with the upcoming implementation of the ETIAS visa requirements.”

Europe Travel Plus is administered by International Medical Group® (IMG®), one of the world’s most respected providers of international travel medical insurance and has maximum limit per period of coverage options from $50,000 to $2 million (USD). The standard policy also provides emergency dental, accidental death and dismemberment, identity theft and trip interruption benefits for covered reasons. Additionally, the policy generates a Schengen visa fulfillment kit, including a confirmation insurance letter documenting that the traveler has purchased the required coverage. Currently, travelers from Schengen visa-mandated countries are required to purchase at least €30,000 in travel medical insurance.

“As global travel to Europe continues to grow, the Europe Travel Plus plan, with hand-picked benefits – tailored to the traveler’s needs – will both simplify the process and provide better coverage for the customer,” Shrivastava continues. “The new availability to U.S. citizens and improved benefits for denied entry into Europe (for a covered reason) again proves that Europe Travel Plus is a superior policy for all travel to Europe.”
