Canada's low-fare leader adds second weekly flight to popular destination.
CALGARY – WestJet announced it will add a second weekly flight between Vancouver and Orlando, effective January 2016. This is in addition to the new weekly service to Orlando announced earlier this year.
“With the addition of a second weekly flight to Orlando, we continue to provide additional non-stop and connecting options for British Columbians looking for affordable, flexible-length getaways to Walt Disney World and a host of other spectacular attractions,” said Chris Avery, WestJet Vice-President, Network Planning, Alliances and Corporate Planning. “Once at Orlando International Airport, most theme parks and other major venues are only a short bus ride away, making it convenient for families to take in everything the area has to offer.”
During the winter months WestJet operates nearly 450 weekly flights from Vancouver International Airport to almost 30 destinations, making it one of the airline’s largest hubs.
WestJet serves Orlando with a total of 43 flights per week during peak winter months from Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Hamilton, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, Moncton, Charlottetown and St. John’s.
WestJet increases service from London, Ontario
Also, WestJet announced it will launch new, twice-daily service between London, Ontario, and Toronto Pearson International Airport on board WestJet Encore’s fleet of Canadian-made Bombardier Q400 NextGen aircraft beginning in March 2016.
The new service opens up 52 new WestJet destinations and 47 new codeshare destinations via Toronto Pearson to Eastern Canada, the United States, Caribbean, Mexico and Europe.
“London has been an important part of WestJet’s network for more than a decade but before today’s announcement, we could only offer Londoners service to and from the west as well as a few sun destinations,” said Chris Avery. “Now, the rest of WestJet’s ever-expanding network is available for London travellers – all with a simple and convenient connection in Toronto.”
Serving London since 2002, in the summer WestJet operates twice daily service to Calgary and daily service to Winnipeg. In the winter the airline flies to Calgary daily as well as once weekly to Orlando and Cancun.
