Alipay+ partners with brands in Dubai to benefit international visitors during Chinese New Year

Asian visitors to Dubai will enjoy a seamless travel and shopping experience with acceptance of more than 10 local e-wallets via Alipay+ during Lunar New Year.

DUBAI – Alipay+ the cross-border digital payment and marketing solutions provider, announced a series of activities and promotions in the United Arab Emirates to celebrate the Chinese New Year celebrations, connecting merchants in Dubai and Asian tourists with visual spectacles and exclusive offers.

The festive promotions at Dubai’s major destinations help travellers enjoy better savings, special offers, and greater ease of travel around the city during Chinese New Year, as the region becomes one of the most sought-out holiday destinations among Chinese visitors.

Enabling a seamless payment experience in the UAE

At Dubai Airport, visitors will be able to scan for offers from the QR code on the Alipay+ seasonal advertisements in arrival halls of Terminal One and Three with their e-wallet as they enter the city.

From catching a taxi across the city with Dubai Taxi to shopping at Dubai Mall and Duty Free at the airport, international visitors will enjoy a seamless travel experience in Dubai from touchdown to take-off. Upon exit, users will benefit from real-time tax refund from our partner, Planet Tax Free, at Dubai Airport.

The supported e-wallets include Alipay (Chinese mainland), AlipayHK (Hong Kong SAR, China), MPay (Macao SAR, China), Kakao Pay, Naver Pay and Toss Pay (South Korea), OCBC (Singapore), Touch&Go (Malaysia), GCash (The Philippines), TrueMoney (Thailand) and Tinaba (Italy) and more.

Asian visitors benefit from promotional discounts and opportunities to win EURO 2024 tickets across Dubai

The world’s largest shopping mall, Dubai Mall, will launch an instant discount promotion for Alipay+ users when they pay for purchases with a home e-wallet throughout February.

As travellers leave the city, Alipay+ users who visit Dubai Airport Duty Free Shop from the 7 February to 29 February 2024 will be instantly entered into a competition to win a pair of UEFA EURO 2024 tickets, when spending over 250 AED with home e-wallets. Each winner will receive two tickets to watch the Spain vs Italy match on June 20th at Gelsenkirchen, Germany, as well as flights to and from Germany plus accommodation.

Welcoming the Year of the Dragon with impressive installations

As part of the promotion campaign, Alipay+ will illuminate the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa, where a seasonal video will be displayed on the building’s façade to welcome international visitors to Dubai with traditional motifs which mark the Year of the Dragon. This video installation will be viewable in the evening from 8 February to 11 February 2024.

Guoming Cheng, General Manager of Ant Group in Europe and Middle East, said: “We are thrilled to welcome international visitors to Dubai to celebrate Lunar New Year and the Year of the Dragon, as they take advantage of the incredible Alipay+ benefits for travellers across the city.
