Book Tower introduces new upscale dining concepts, creating Detroit’s newest hospitality landmark

Method Co. unveils the highly anticipated, first-phase openings of restaurant and bar concepts at Bedrock’s iconic downtown Detroit property.

DETROIT, MI – Nationally-acclaimed hospitality company, Method Co. and Detroit-based real estate developer, Bedrock, announce the first phase of highly anticipated restaurant and bar openings at Book Tower. New food and beverage openings include Le Suprême, a classic French brasserie located at the landmark corner of Washington Boulevard and Grand River Avenue; Kamper’s, an upscale rooftop bar and lounge; and Bar Rotunda, an all-day lobby café and bar, opening early next month.

Restored by Bedrock over the course of 7 years, Book Tower is a nearly 100-year-old historic skyscraper located in the heart of downtown Detroit on Washington Boulevard. After sitting primarily vacant for over a decade, the former office building has been converted into a mixed-use destination with the launch of multiple culinary offerings, The Residences at Book Tower, Method’s ROOST Detroit, and Anthology Events.

Book Tower reemerged from its nearly $400M historic restoration in the spring of 2023 as one of the city’s most unique and unrivaled mixed-use destinations.

We have been ever-mindful of what the restoration of Book Tower means to this city and we’ve worked hard to create hospitality concepts that will excite and reconnect Detroiters to Book Tower once again and at the same time honor the heritage of this magnificent property.”

  • Now open, Le Suprême, a French brasserie, introduces an all-day dining experience throughout the restaurant’s cafe and bar, dining room, and outdoor seating along tree-lined Washington Boulevard. Guests can enjoy French-inspired specialties such as seafood towers, steak au poivre, and moules frites, along with breads, pastries and desserts from the restaurant’s in-house boulangerie and patisserie. Le Suprême’s full-service bar showcases a traditional absinthe service, a curated cocktail program and a global selection of over 300 champagnes and wines.

Conceptualized and designed by Method Studios in collaboration with long-standing design partner, Stokes Architecture + Design, the 6,200 square-foot space offers seating for up to 210 guests. Design features include a traditional La Bastille zinc bar top, hand-made art nouveau European tiles, hand-clipped mosaic marble flooring, oxblood leather booths, layered with locally sourced vintage artwork, lamps, and furniture curated to pay homage to the musical and cultural notes of Detroit. The walls of Le Suprême are also filled with photographs and artwork inspired by France’s iconic Le Mans car race, connecting the restaurant with the lore of Detroit’s legendary automobile legacy. In addition, Le Suprême offers an up to 24-seat private dining room complete with a fireplace for parties requiring a more intimate setting. Reservations can be made on Le Suprême’s website.

  • Kamper’s, an upscale rooftop bar – named after the original architect of Detroit’s historic Book Building, Louis Kamper – is now open on Book Tower’s 14th floor. Kamper’s includes an indoor lounge with a gorgeously appointed interior featuring wood accents, marble mosaic flooring, antiqued mirrors, velvet drapery, and a handsome paneled millwork bar. Designed by New York firm ODA in collaboration with Method Co., the space features French doors which open out onto an expansive rooftop with unparalleled views of the city and a stunning perspective of the tower.

Method Co.’s beverage directors and pedigreed mixologists, Natasha David and Jeremy Oertel, carefully curated a beverage program comprised of craft cocktails, wines, aperitifs, and spirits. Kamper’s menu also includes a refined selection of tapas inspired by Barcelona. Guests can enjoy seating in the lounge, at the bar or among the outdoor terrace’s plush, fireside seating areas.   • Located in The Rotunda of Book Tower, the 70-seat all-day cafe, cocktail and wine bar, Bar Rotunda, will offer a design and service-style inspired by the grand cafés and hotel bars of early twentieth-century Paris when it opens early next month. The space is canopied by a beautifully restored 100-year-old Keppler Glass dome that features more than 7,000 individual jewels and 6,000 glass panels making it an architectural centerpiece. Creating an idyllic setting and premier destination for locals and guests to grab a leisurely breakfast, lunch, or quick bite and drink, the versatile French-influenced menu serves everything from morning coffees and freshly made pastries to small plates, wine, and craft cocktails.

Designed by ODA in collaboration with Method Co., Bar Rotunda’s design features a cristallo quartzite and tambour wood bar, restored Botticino marble columns and travertine floors, custom clawfoot library tables, and restored bronze and brass detailing throughout.

All of Book Tower’s food and beverage spaces will be bookable for private events through Method Co.’s Anthology Events website.

“Le Suprême, Bar Rotunda, and Kamper’s are exceptional additions to downtown Detroit’s dining and hospitality scene,” said Andrew Leber, Vice President of Hospitality at Bedrock. “From the cuisine and beverage offerings to the design and décor, and every detail in between, guests are treated to an elevated experience the moment they walk through Book Tower’s doors.”

Later this year, Method Co. will unveil additional concepts at Book Tower. Sakazuki, an intimate main-level sake pub featuring sandos and exclusive Japanese libations; and Hiroki-San, a new iteration of Method Co.’s famed Philadelphia culinary destination, HIROKI, with izakaya and omakase-style dining, will join the lineup of culinary offerings.

These openings are the latest additions to Method Co.’s roster of award-winning restaurants, bars, hotels and apartments, including The Pinch in Charleston; Simmer Down and The Quoin Restaurant, both located within The Quoin, the first luxury boutique hotel in Wilmington, Delaware; Philadelphia’s beloved Wm. Mulherin’s Sons Restaurant & Hotel and HIROKI; as well as Whyle in Washington D.C. and Method Co.’s ROOST Apartment Hotel brand, with locations in Philadelphia, Cleveland, Tampa, and Baltimore, plus three forthcoming locations opening in Charleston, Atlanta, and Philadelphia.
