bmi regional remains loyal to Navtech

Newly independent airline signs a multi-year agreement for two core products. Navtech Charts will be supplied to the scheduled regional airline which operates from UK airports to destinations primarily within the UK, as well as other European destinations.

TORONTO – Navtech Inc. has preserved its relationship with customer, bmi regional, through a multi-year agreement for provisioning of aeronautical charts and aircraft performance products. Navtech Charts will be supplied to the scheduled regional airline which operates from UK airports to destinations primarily within the UK, as well as other European destinations. bmi regional was sold to Sector Aviation Holdings (SAH) on June 1, 2012 to operate independently and it also subscribes to Navtech TODC (Take-off Data Calculations) with Navtech AODB (Airport Obstacle Database).

“As bmi regional prides itself on being a flexible and forward-thinking airline we feel this relationship is a great fit,” said Mr. Ashley Heard, European Sales Director at Navtech. “Navtech is very pleased to continue working with the bmi regional team and to provide the airline with the best quality charts and aircraft performance tools.” bmi regional is not a new customer to Navtech. Navtech has served the British Midland family for many years prior to the merging of BMI with British Airways and the dissolution of the bmi baby operation earlier this year. The confidence shown by bmi regional’s continued support of Navtech’s products and services demonstrates the strength of Navtech’s offerings, especially the demand for the Navtech Charts product.

“We are delighted to continue our long standing relationship with Navtech. As we are now a fully independent airline it was imperative to have a product which suited our needs whilst providing the high quality required to meet the challenges ahead,” said bmi regional Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Cathal O’Connell.

Navtech Charts leverages Navtech’s experience, research, and Human Factors analysis work. The charts are designed using research from Human Factor specialists and by gathering data from, and working closely with pilots with years of experience using aeronautical charts. Navtech offers aerodrome and enroute charts in our modern specification. Aerodrome charts include a briefing card, instrument approach, landing and ground charts, as well as standard arrival routes. bmi regional’s chosen aerodromes can be presented to them alphabetically by country, city, or by aerodrome name. Navtech’s enroute navigation is compiled from official documents and topographical reference charts along with digital terrain models. As bmi regional has also subscribed to Navtech TODC, customized engine fail procedures can be added to their Navtech Charts.

Navtech TODC is a customized take-off and landing performance solution suitable for desktop, laptop/tablet, handheld, EFB and ACARS users. Navtech TODC is primarily based on manufacturer performance (SCAP) data and it offers unparalleled flexibility and functionality for paper-based or e-solutions. Navtech TODC is complemented by Navtech AODB, our airport obstacle database. The EU OPS and FAA compliant database is based on AIP publications and full NOTAM surveillance service is included.
