Richard Wales brings Wealth of Experience to the Role.
PARK CITY, UTAH – The St. Regis Deer Valley, a five-star resort located on the slopes of Utah’s Deer Valley announced the appointment of Richard Wales as General Manager, effective December 2, 2019. Richard brings more than 17 years of luxury hospitality experience to his new role overseeing all hotel operations for The St. Regis Deer Valley, one of the world’s most luxurious destinations.
Richard comes to The St. Regis Deer Valley from 1 Hotels in Miami Beach, Florida. While there, he was instrumental in helping the hotel achieve a Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star rating. Wales also helped 1 Hotels Miami achieve the highest revenue, gross operating profit and net operating profit in the hotel’s history. 1 Hotels Miami is currently the #1 rated hotel in Miami on TripAdvisor.
Prior to 1 Hotels, Richard’s experience includes Director of Operations for Claremont Club & Spa in Berkeley, California, and nearly six years in leadership roles at The St. Regis Aspen Resort where he initially served as the Director of Rooms and then as the Director of Operations. Richard began his career in hospitality after attending Le Cordon Bleu in Sydney, Australia. He worked with the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company LLC for nearly a decade at international and domestic properties including locations in Dubai, Boston, Key Biscayne, San Juan, and the Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove, Miami, Florida.

An avid outdoorsman, Richard enjoys skiing, fishing, skeet and trap shooting. Mr. Wales and his family will reside in Park City, Utah.
