The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) announced the recipients of the ACTE Distinguished Fellow award based on attendee evaluations from its spring conference. The award was presented to the panel that comprised Streamlining Through Outsourcing – the highest ranked education session at ACTE`s Global Conference in Vancouver, Canada:

  • Tony D`Astolfo, Vice President, Travel Services, Rearden Commerce
  • Angela Naegele, Global Procurement Director, AT&T
  • Mike Premo, President, TQ3Navigant Integrated Services, TQ3 Travel Solutions
  • Barry Rogers, Senior Consultant, TCG Consulting
  • Theresa Ryan, Associate Partner, IBM Consulting Services

The Streamlining Through Outsourcing session focused on the trend of corporations outsourcing their travel function and the implications the decision to do so may have. Many view outsourcing as a best practice for non-strategic activities to achieve a higher degree of cost management. The session explored the track record for outsourcing and what outsourced functions produce the greatest gains for the corporation.

Attendees from all sectors of the industry attended this session. According to ACTE`s President, Greeley Koch, The panelists were dynamic and knowledgeable. They captured people`s interest by offering a clear, easy to understand presentation on a topic that can be complicated, but one that those engaged in business travel management need to become familiar.

While the high scores for this session were notable, the real value of the session for attendees was demonstrated in the subjective comments from its attendees, which included: This was the best session of the entire conference, Very informative, valuable, and insightful, Best breakout session I`ve ever been to, Excellent session – a lot of great feedback and ideas.

These presenters have demonstrated the power of thinking outside the box, and how a compelling presentation can motivate an industry, said Koch. This overwhelming response from attendees members indicates that our educational sessions are meeting ACTE`s high expectations.

The ACTE Distinguished Fellow award was established in 2000 to recognize excellence in business travel industry education. Recipients are determined through session evaluations submitted by attendees to the ACTE Global Conferences. The next ACTE Distinguished Fellow award will be conferred following the ACTE Global Conference in London.
