Tanzania sponsors showcase at USTOA 2012 Annual Conference and Marketplace big island, Hawaii

Tanzania launched its first year membership with the United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA) with a showcase in the Around the World in 60 Minutes breakfast.

NEW YORK – Tanzania, the Land of Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar and the Serengeti, and the largest country in East Africa, launched its first year membership with the United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA) with a showcase in the Around the World in 60 Minutes breakfast. The presentation took place at USTOA’s 2012 Annual Conference and Marketplace, Big Island, Hawaii, on December 8, 2012.

According to Dr. Aloyce Nzuki, Managing Director, Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB), “There is no question that joining USTOA and participating at the conference and marketplace, provided TTB, and the private sector who joined us, an excellent opportunity to build new partnerships, and strengthen our relationship with those tour operators already selling Destination Tanzania. We are confident that these activities will not only generate  more American tourists to the country, but will help us diversify our tourism product by encouraging and facilitating  tour operators  to create new itineraries to the Southern and Western circuits.”

John Hanratty, Chairman, USTOA and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Travel Impressions, said, “I congratulate Tanzania on launching their first USTOA membership with a sponsorship of the Around the World in 60 Minutes showcase. This was an effective way for Tanzania to deliver a strong message that it recognizes the key role that tour operators can play in bringing more tourists from the U.S. to their destination.”

Terry Dale, President, USTOA, added , “Dr. Nzuki gave an informative, creative and passionate presentation focusing on the top ten misconceptions about destination Tanzania as well as revealing many of its hidden gems. This was well received by the more than 100 active tour operator members attending the event.”

Dr. Nzuki was accompanied by Tanzania Tourist Board USA representatives Karen Hoffman and Chanel LeMond and from Tanzania’s private sector, Pius Momburi, African Spoonbill Tours.
