Rapidly growing carrier expands relationship with global IT solutions provider.

YANGON – Myanmar Airways International celebrated a ten-year membership with global air transport IT community provider SITA  with the announcement that it is exploring the introduction of SITA’s advanced technology to bolster its planned expansion.

The new systems being considered for introduction over the next three years would deliver dramatically improved efficiencies and lower costs in areas including passenger and baggage management, airport operations, aircraft communications and advanced communications.

Speaking at the presentation of a plaque to MAI marking a decade of SITA membership, Ilya Gutlin, SITA President, Asia Pacific, said: “After ten successful years of cooperation with MAI, SITA is delighted to build on this firm foundation as the airline looks to major international expansion. I’m confident that SITA’s advanced IT solutions will contribute significantly to widespread efficiency improvements and help MAI become one of the Asia’s leading carriers over the next decade.

Si Thu, Managing Director, MAI, said: “MAI is about to embark on a major route expansion across the region and it is critical that this is supported by the most efficient IT systems in order that we meet our passenger and operational expectations. With its unbeatable industry expertise and record of demonstrated reliability in Myanmar over the past 10 years, SITA is clearly the technology partner of choice for MAI.
