AC Hotels opens its newest location in San Diego’s Downtown Gaslamp Quarter

AC Hotels debuts in San Diego, CA delivering a sophisticated modern hotel experience.

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – AC Hotels, the design-led lifestyle brand with a European sensibility, opened its newest location, on Sunday, February 26th, in the San Diego Downtown Gaslamp Quarter. From Marriott International, with Briad Hospitality, the new AC Hotel San Diego Downtown Gaslamp Quarter’s eight-story structure features 147 rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness center and invites travelers to experience a luxurious and sophisticated hotel in a world-class destination. Perfectly positioned just 3.7 miles from San Diego International Airport, AC Hotel offers easy access to San Diego staples for a unique and memorable stay.

AC Hotels provides thoughtfully designed rooms and refined offerings, creating a seamless experience for guests. The project was built by Briad Construction Services, a division of Briad led by Chuck Pagnotta, Senior Vice President of Construction and Design, and is located at 743 5th Avenue. The design team preserved the historic facade on the 69,000-square-foot building of 6th Avenue as part of the AC Hotel construction improvements adding to the historic beauty of San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter.

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring the first AC Hotel to San Diego. We’re proud to offer guests a thoughtfully-designed, high-style environment and debut a one-of-a-kind experience at Techo Beso opening this summer, a rooftop inspired by the sun-drenched beaches of Tulum,” says Rick Barbrick, President and Co-CEO of Briad Hospitality.

Focusing on premium natural materials essential to the AC Hotel’s aesthetic, this new space embraces the latest design trends. AC Hotel’s design is influenced by the stunning beauty and elegance of San Diego, using a color palette of calming shades of taupe, white and various blues and teals, evoking a sense of elegance and luxury while capturing the serene harmony of the local environment. The new AC Hotel incorporates modern design elements and technology, such as cutting-edge lighting systems and the latest entertainment technology, to enhance the guest experience for a truly modern stay. The interior features handcrafted wood-stained architectural details; natural marble flooring with champagne bronze metal insets; a mother-of-pearl backsplash providing a warm and inviting atmosphere; and a selection of luxurious genuine leather seating. The rooms are thoughtfully designed, with maximum comfort and function in mind and plenty of free surfaces to easily settle into the property. Designed for modern, sophisticated travelers with a global mindset, the new property provides sleek rooms and luxury bedding, Korres bath amenities, spacious workstations and free high-speed wi-fi. For work travelers, the hotel offers flexible, open spaces that encourage guests to conduct a business meeting, socialize and spend time enjoying the amenities the Lobby has to offer. The Media Salon seats up to eight people, the ideal place for a morning meeting.

With an innovative food and beverage program, guests can enjoy a European-inspired breakfast at AC Kitchen featuring butter croissants imported from France; artisan cured meats, such as thinly sliced Italian Prosciutto from AC’s iconic Berkel slicing machine; an international selection of cheeses; as well as yogurts and cereals, seasonal fruits and local specialties. The AC Lounge invites travelers and locals to enjoy crafted cocktails, local craft beers and wines, and a concise small plate menu. Coming early summer, guests can enjoy Techo Beso, a rooftop bar and restaurant by Briad Hospitality. Techo Beso meaning “rooftop kiss” is inspired by the energy and culture of love found in Tulum, Mexico, and will feature a main bar space for a communal party atmosphere with the DJ elevated to connect the bar to the pool deck. The rooftop will serve an elevated selection of hand-crafted cocktails and small plates, while providing guests with stunning and unobstructed views of Gaslamp Quarter. Techo Beso elevates guests from the surrounding environment below with magnificent views of San Diego, becoming a destination for both neighbors and travelers.
