Blue Islands joins ERA

The European Regions Airline Association (ERA) is delighted to welcome Channel Islands-based carrier, Blue Islands, into membership of the Association.

Formally established in 2001, Blue Islands now operates more than 400 flights per week connecting the Channel Islands to key destinations throughout the UK and Europe. Its fleet consists of 4 x BAe Jetstream 32EPs, 1 x ATR 42-320 and 1 x ATR 42-500.  In 2011, the airline increased the number of passengers carried by 23% compared with the previous year.

Rob Veron, Blue Islands’ managing director says: “As Blue Islands continues to grow and further develop our strategic plans, we are delighted to be joining the ERA at this exciting time and look forward to enjoying the wider benefits that this membership brings.  We are an airline bringing something very different to our industry with our completely transparent and honest pricing policy and I look forward to sharing our industry views with other members.”

Mike Ambrose, director general, ERA, says: “ Blue Islands is an excellent example of how intra-European airlines drive economic growth and prosperity to the regions of Europe by connecting peripheral communities to central hubs and supporting social cohesion.  We extend a warm welcome into ERA membership to Rob Veron and all his team.“
