Sarah Storie-Pugh, Concorde`s Managing Director, has been elected to serve as President of  the International Association of Professional Conference Organisers (IAPCO ) for the next two years. At the IAPCO General Assembly in Rio de Janeiro the delegates unanimously voted to elect Sarah whose experience in the conference organising industry is acknowledged worlwide. She said afterwards: “I am enormously proud to have been elected to such a prestigious position. There are many associations connected with the meetings industry but IAPCO is the only one which sets stringent criteria for its potential members to qualify for election and it is the only one which monitors the progress of its members to ensure that the standard is maintained. I strongly believe it is essential that such standards are set and maintained within our industry to ensure that our clients receive only the best possible service. During my time as President I hope that, as an Association, we will work even harder to promote and maintain excellence and that we will also work closely with other different organisations within the industry – such as the International Pharmaceutical Congress Advisory Association – to make international meetings even more successful.”
Thanking members for their votes, Storie-Pugh said `Over the next two years I intend to maintain the superlative standards set by IAPCO, and ensure we work together in managing the signbificant changes which our profession is undergoing`É>.
The General Assembly also confirmed the following members of Council.

  • Susan Lippmann, Theasurer
Carolina G Sicilia, Immediate Past President
Vincent van Wulfen (co-opted as Host of the 2001 General Assembly)
    Christer Carlsson (also ICMT Chairman)
    Inge Hanser
    Patrizia Buongiorno
