Site Florida & Caribbean Chapter and Site Young Leaders to host Site Student Conference

The Site Student Conference will include an educational session by Dr. Croes on the “Future of Tourism” and a presentation by Fernando Compean, CMM, CITE, CMP, CMS, CIS, CEO of Avanti Meetings, on the importance of continuing education.

Students and young professionals interested in the Travel and Hospitality industry are encouraged to attend the Site Student Conference presented by the Site Florida & Caribbean Chapter and Site Young Leaders. Supported and hosted by the UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management, the Site Student Conference will be held 5-7 December 2013 in Orlando, Florida, USA, immediately before the Site Global Conference. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from industry experts through interactive educational sessions relevant to their generation. The conference will provide the knowledge, skills and networking to help students and young professionals move their careers to the next level.

“As part of UCF, Rosen College of Hospitality Management has a mission to support partnerships with organizations in the Travel and Hospitality industry. Site is the leading global association for the Incentive Travel sector and we are pleased to have the opportunity to host the Site Student Conference at Rosen College,” commented Dr. Robertico Croes, Department of Tourism, Events and Attractions, Rosen Institute.

“Over the next seven years, it is projected that the Travel and Hospitality industry in the U.S. will experience significant growth with over 35,000 new jobs projected,” continued Dr. Croes. “Our goal is to make sure that our students are well prepared and qualified to seize these job opportunities. Participation in the Site Student Conference and the Site Global Conference is an excellent way for students and young professionals to gain specific knowledge and skills about the Incentive Travel sector and have the opportunity to network with experienced, global professionals in the industry.”

The Site Student Conference will include an educational session by Dr. Croes on the “Future of Tourism” and a presentation by Fernando Compean, CMM, CITE, CMP, CMS, CIS, CEO of Avanti Meetings, on the importance of continuing education, with a special focus on Site’s Certified Incentive Specialist certification. Other activities include a team-building cooking event and a session on global etiquette.

Students who participate in the Site Student Conference are also encouraged to attend, for a minimal fee, the Site Global Conference, 7-10 December at the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando. Throughout the Site Global Conference, students will be hosted and mentored by members of the Site Young Leaders program.
