AMSTERDAM – Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, located between two historical canals in the heart of the city, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming one of the first 50 Accredited hotels worldwide by the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association (IGLTA). This prestigious recognition marks The Grand as the first hotel in Northern Europe to receive the IGLTA Accredited title.

The IGLTA Accredited program was developed in collaboration with industry leaders and experts in tourism and hospitality as well as Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. IGLTA Accredited is a new program ensuring travel assurance for LGBTQ+ travelers by promoting travel companies that are committed to promoting equality and safety. The President, and CEO of IGLTA, John Tanzella, congratulates The Grand on this unique achievement. “It’s wonderful to see their commitment to promoting equality and safety for LGBTQ+ travelers. We hope The Grand will serve as an inspiration for others in the accommodation industry to prioritize and embrace diversity.”

Kees Hogetoorn, Sales & Marketing Director and LGBTQ+ Representative at The Grand, expresses the commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all travelers.“It is an honor to be recognized by IGLTA for our involvement in diversity and inclusivity. Societal acceptance is close to our heart and we lay great importance on creating a welcoming environment for everyone here at The Grand”.

Adding to the allure, during Pride Week in Amsterdam, guests and visitors will have the exclusive opportunity to admire some of the favorite dresses of iconic Drag Queens/Performers Dolly Bellefleur, Diva Mayday, and Envy Peru. These stunning creations have been designed by the talented Tycho Boeker, Claes Iverson and Janne Mooij adding a touch of glamour and craftmanship to the exhibition. Furthermore, Bjorn van den Berg’s exquisite jewelry collection, worn by superstars such as Gwen Stefani, Mel B and Dita von Teese, will be gracing the lobby. Also, the bejeweled outfit worn by Envy Peru during Drag Race Holland is on display and will leave guests in awe, making this Pride Week celebration at The Grand a truly sparkling event. To elevate the experience further it features Cyril Jacobs’ captivating drag queen photography that is shown in magazine Stunnin, capturing the essence of a journey to self-expression.
