Air Serbia

“The direct air route between Belgrade and Mostar was first introduced just over six decades ago, in 1962. After a 30-year hiatus, thanks to the agreement we signed today, we will once again be flying to that city in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We are confident that this route will be beneficial to passengers, and have a positive impact on economic and industrial growth, facilitating cultural exchange, and contributing to even better cooperation in the Western Balkans. By adding Mostar to our network, we will be flying to a total of 17 cities in the former Yugoslavia, thus connecting the region, via Belgrade, to destinations across Europe, North America, and Asia offered by Air Serbia,” stated Jiri Marek, CEO of Air Serbia.

The new route of the Serbian national airline provides good connectivity from Mostar, via Belgrade, to Paris, Düsseldorf, Zurich, Amsterdam, Oslo, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Larnaca, Stockholm, Prague, Milan, Rome, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Venice, Bologna, Bucharest, Krakow, Vienna, Budapest, Hanover, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Nuremberg, Brussels, Lyon, and many other cities in the Serbian national airline’s network.

Air Serbia carried over 50,000 more passengers in January, year over year

Air Serbia carried 269,725 passengers in January 2024, which is a 23% increase compared to the same month in 2023. The Serbian national airline operated 3,457 flights during the first month of the year, or 700 flights more than in January 2023. This is Air Serbia’s best January result since 2013, i.e., when the company started operating under its current name.

Air Serbia

“Last year was one of the most successful years for the national flag carrier since it was founded almost 97 years ago. A total of 4.19 million passengers placed their trust in us, we launched 23 new destinations, strengthened and rejuvenated our fleet, added hundreds of new colleagues to our team, and promoted 23 new captains. We are very proud of what we achieved, but at the same time, we are aware that the aviation industry is a complex system in which success hinges on numerous factors. In our day-to-day operations, we choose to focus on the things that are in our control, as evidenced by the January results. By carrying over 50,000 passengers more than in the same month in 2023, we showed that we can always do better. Let’s hope that this positive trend will continue in the coming months as well”, said Air Serbia CEO Jiri Marek.

The most popular destinations in the Air Serbia network in January 2024, when it comes to Western Europe, were Zurich, Paris, Vienna, Milan, and Rome. The most popular destinations in the region are Podgorica and Tivat, and in the wider Euro-Mediterranean area, the most popular flights were those to Istanbul, Barcelona, and Athens.
