American Airlines launches codeshare agreement with Air Tahiti Nui

American Airlines and Air Tahiti Nui, the international airline of Tahiti, received approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation on a bilateral codeshare agreement

FORT WORTH – The new codeshare agreement allows American to place its code on Air Tahiti Nui flights between Los Angeles International Airport and Papeete Faa’a International Airport and allows Air Tahiti Nui to place its code on American flights from Los Angeles to more than 15 cities throughout the United States including New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago, Boston, Dallas/Fort Worth, Miami and Washington, D.C. Flights are available for sale today for travel beginning Sept. 10.

“We are excited to launch this new codeshare relationship with Air Tahiti Nui to give our customers more options when traveling to the South Pacific and French Polynesia,” said Kurt Stache, American’s Vice President – Strategic Alliances. “This agreement will provide our customers with a variety of options and seamless access when traveling throughout our combined networks.”

“This new codeshare partnership with one of the largest airline’s in the world will considerably improve the visibility of Tahiti in North America,” said Etienne Howan, Chairman and CEO of Air Tahiti Nui. “It will also make it easier for tourists to discover our beautiful and romantic islands of Tahiti, Moorea or Bora Bora, only eight hours from Los Angeles. Tahitian passengers will also benefit from fast and easy connections across the United States.”

American Airlines AAdvantage members currently have the ability to redeem miles for award travel on Air Tahiti Nui.
