Copa Airlines will provide service to and from Baltimore, Maryland increasing its network to 81 destinations in 32 countries in North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean.

PANAMA CITY, PANAMA – Copa Airlines, a subsidiary of Copa Holdings, S.A. and a member of the global Star Alliance airline network, marked a milestone as it launched its nonstop service to Baltimore, Maryland. This addition expands Copa Airlines’ presence to a total of 14 cities in the United States, further solidifying its commitment to providing seamless connectivity between North, Central, South America and the Caribbean. The new route establishes an important link between Baltimore and Copa Airlines’ extensive network of routes across Latin America, facilitated by its Hub of the Americas located at Panama City’s Tocumen International Airport.

The inaugural flight received a warm welcome as it touched down at BWI Marshall Airport, greeted by a ceremonial water cannon salute. The occasion was commemorated with a series of memorable events, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a meticulously crafted commemorative cake, and performances by talented Panamanian dancers. Esteemed executives from both Copa Airlines and BWI Marshall Airport delivered speeches, underscoring the significance of this occasion.

Dennis Cary, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Copa Airlines, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The launch of this new route to Baltimore strengthens Copa’s position as a major player in connecting the Americas, effectively bridging distances and fostering connectivity across the Americas. This new route opens up exciting tourism opportunities for travelers in the Baltimore area to explore dozens of destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean, while also promoting commercial exchange between regions.”

Boasting a rich historical legacy, a thriving art scene, and a wealth of economic prospects, Baltimore emerges as an enticing destination for both leisure seekers and business travelers alike. Its strategic proximity to Washington D.C. and its neighboring cities positions it as an ideal gateway for those seeking to explore the wider region.

“We are thrilled to welcome Copa Airlines to BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport, and to celebrate this new nonstop service to Panama,” said Ricky Smith, Executive Director of BWI Marshall Airport. “We are confident that this partnership will foster tourism, trade, and cultural exchanges between our two regions.”

Copa Airlines now offers four (4) weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, the flights depart Panama at 9:07 a.m. (local time) and arrive at the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) at 3:07 p.m. (local time). The return flight will operate on the same days, departing Baltimore at 4:22 p.m. (local time) and arriving back in Panama at 8:22 p.m. (local time).

In addition to Baltimore, Copa Airlines launched a new route in South America on June 27, connecting the Hub of the Americas in Panama to the city of Manta, Ecuador. This move positions Copa Airlines as the sole provider of international connectivity to Manta, often referred to as the “Gateway to the Pacific.” Manta entices visitors with its picturesque beaches, delectable gastronomy, and flourishing import-export industry, solidifying its status as Ecuador’s second-largest tourism and fishing port after Guayaquil. With this latest addition, Copa Airlines expands its operations in Ecuador, complementing its existing routes in Guayaquil and Quito, and further facilitating seamless travel experiences for residents of Manta and neighboring cities.

Baltimore and Manta residents can now benefit from Copa’s world-class, award-winning service, and the most on-time Airline in Latin America according to the OAG Punctuality League.
