FlyAsianXpress (FAX), East Asia’s domestic airline and Amadeus have signed an agreement by which the airline will distribute and sell its seats through the Amadeus system, in order to reach a wider international market. The move will help boost tourist arrivals in Sabah and Sarawak in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2007.

With this partnership, Amadeus travel agents and corporate customers across the globe have full access to book seats on FAX. The agreement with Amadeus is one of the many initiatives undertaken by FAX to provide a better service offering and increased connectivity between the international market and East Malaysia. The airline currently operates 22 routes and 104 flights daily within Sabah and Sarawak.

A signing ceremony was held to seal the partnership between Amadeus and FAX, and was witnessed by Y.B. Dato’ Seri Tengku Zainal Adlin bin Tengku Mahamood, Chairman of Sabah Tourism Board.

“In conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2007, FAX is focused on realising the country’s tourism potential and believes the collaboration with Amadeus will strengthen its distribution channels, allowing the world to see and access Sabah and Sarawak,” said Raja Mohd Azmi, Chief Executive Officer of FAX.

Under the agreement, Amadeus will deploy a next generation distribution solution for ticketless travel on FAX.

David Brett, President Amadeus Asia Pacific said: “With increased direct and interlining flights into Asia Pacific, our partnership with FAX is an example of our commitment to support regional airlines in reaching out to markets overseas. Our new generation solutions for this segment, which offer the widest range of content, are well suited for airlines like FAX with a flexible business model and ambitious growth plans.”

“This partnership also further reiterates our long-term commitment to the travel agency community, to continually offer the widest possible range of content through our distribution channel,” he added.
