Royal Jordanian launches its direct scheduled flight between Amman and Budapest twice a week from 28 July, in a code-share arrangement with Malev Hungarian Airlines. Based on the wide-ranging agreement, both airlines have already started the sales activity regarding the new Amman–Budapest route.

Under the terms of the contract, from 28 July a Malev flight code is added to the Royal Jordanian direct Budapest–Amman service operating twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. This provides an excellent connection from Western Europe to Jordan through Budapest. In future, this relationship between the two new oneworld members will extend to other flights. In practice this means that passengers will soon be able to purchase Malev tickets to a range of exotic new destinations that have never before featured in the Hungarian carrier’s route network. Travelling via Amman, the Jordanian coastal resort of Aqaba and two gems of the United Arab Emirates, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, will become accessible. The world-famous metropolises of Bombay and Delhi in India join the network in 2008. At the same time, new opportunities open up for customers of Royal Jordanian through the Malev route network as the Hungarian company adds the Jordanian carrier code to 12 of its services, including Berlin and Copenhagen.

The direct code-share Royal Jordanian-Malev flight operated by the Jordanian party links the two capitals twice a week, although the carriers are able to offer a daily connection with a transfer in either Athens or Istanbul.
