refund.me: 5.5 Billion Euros are up in the air

5.5 billion euros is the amount European air passengers could claim for flight delays and cancellations in the summer of 2017.

POTSDAM, Germany –  This year's summer holidays are coming to an end all over Europe. Flight cancellations and delays over the summer months make European travellers eligible to some 5.5 billion euros, based on regulation (EC) 261/2004. refund.me strongly recommends to file compensation claims.

Passengers are often unaware of their rights in case of flight cancellations and lengthy delays; missed connections and overbookings also entitle to claim compensation.

Passengers very often get blocked when they try to file their claims with the airline directly. However, they would gain real money pursuant to EU legislation. If a flight is delayed for more than three hours, passengers are entitled to claim between 250 and 600 euros, depending on long or short distance flights.

refund.me cooperates with an international network of lawyers and legal experts and has a success rate of 98 percent in courts worldwide. When compensation is claimed successfully, refund.me charges a commission.

"If a family gets stranded at the airport due to lengthy delays or cancellations, every single passenger is eligible for compensation – even a toddler without a seat of his own. This is your right," recommends Sandra Rosenberg, COO of refund.me, the international service provider for passenger rights. "Cash compensation can be a small comfort for airport frustration. refund.me is the advocate for passengers' rights."
