From 1 March 2006 Singapore Airlines will commence a three times weekly service to Abu Dhabi, offering customers the convenience of a direct flight between Singapore and the federal capital of United Arab Emirates.

“Abu Dhabi is Singapore Airlines’ second destination in the UAE, after Dubai. This service will benefit business and leisure travelers who want direct and convenient links between Singapore, South East Asia and South West Pacific and the Gulf region,” said Mr Huang Cheng Eng, Singapore Airlines’ Executive Vice President, Marketing and the Regions.

Abu Dhabi is the largest of the seven Emirates that comprise the UAE. An exporter of oil since the 1960s, Abu Dhabi is a modern and prosperous state and in recent times, this Emirate has emerged as a major financial hub in the Middle East, while also enhancing its reputation as a leading Middle Eastern tourist destination.

Singapore Airlines will be the only airline operating between Abu Dhabi and Singapore. This new service compliments existing flights to Dubai and will continue on to Jeddah on Saudi Arabia.

With the introduction of Singapore Airlines service to Moscow via Dubai, also on 1 March 2006, the re-routing of the three-times-weekly Jeddah flights via Abu Dhabi will see Singapore Airlines serve the UAE thirteen times weekly: ten times to Dubai and three times to Abu Dhabi.
