U.S. DOT grants antitrust immunity to american airlines and Lan Peru

American Airlines create three-Way partnership with American, Lan Peru and Lan Airlines

American Airlines create three-Way partnership with American, Lan Peru and Lan Airlines. American Airlines announced it has received antitrust immunity from the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) for a partnership with LAN PERU. The immunity will permit a three-way alliance with American, LAN PERU and LAN AIRLINES (of Chile), allowing the airlines to coordinate marketing, schedules and other elements of their service. American had previously been granted antitrust immunity with LAN AIRLINES in 1999. Both Peru and Chile have Open Skies agreements with the United States.

DOT recognized the benefits and additional choices for consumers that a cooperative partnership with these airlines will bring, said Henry Joyner, American`s Senior Vice President of Planning. The goal is to create a seamless product among our three airlines that will make travel between the United States, Peru and Chile more efficient and enjoyable for our customers.

American has also filed application with DOT for broad codeshare authority with LAN PERU. American already has existing codeshare authority with LAN AIRLINES.
