Travelling the world is one of life’s greatest joys.

But even the most experienced traveller can get so wrapped up in the excitement of an itinerary that it be easy to forget to stop and enjoy ourselves.

Whether you’re a tried and tested traveller or a nomadic newbie, here are seven tips to make the most of your trip!

1) Experience other cultures
One of the best things about travelling the world, is having the opportunity to experience cultures that are different from your own.

Take in all the different sights and sounds, and if you’re going to be somewhere for a while, it’s a good idea to try learning the language to help you get around! Services such as Duolingo are excellent resources for self-learning.

2) Live like an extrovert
If you’re a natural introvert, this can be extremely difficult. But for those who want to become more outgoing, it’s good practice to act like an extrovert to get used to social situations.

Being open to new experiences and introducing yourself to new people is perfect for getting the most out of your trip.

3) Study online
Are you torn between travel and study? It turns out that you don’t have to choose!

When you study with a distance learning institution such as Anglia Ruskin University, you can complete your education from anywhere in the world.

As long as you take your laptop with you and have access to the internet then you’re good to go!

4) Hit the ground running
It can be tempting to jump right into your hotel bed as soon as you land, but if you arrive during the day it’s important to resist this temptation!

Take a little time to freshen up and unpack a few essentials, then head right out and explore. You want to try and go to sleep on local time as this is an great way to avoid jet lag

5) Don’t sleep the day away
We know that you’re on holiday but try not to sleep late into the morning – especially if your trip is only short.

Instead, get outside and explore. This way you’ll make the most of your holiday and avoid missing out on must-see hotspots.

6) Don’t rush
Make sure that you take your time while you travel.

Of course, it’s important to get in as much as you can, but you want to make sure that you stop to enjoy your activities.

Take a moment to appreciate your surroundings – even if you’re just sitting down with a coffee and watch the locals go about their daily lives. You can learn a lot from people-watching!

7) Take on a working holiday
If you want to make your travel a long-term arrangement, then consider a working holiday, this way you’ll be able to earn on the go.

Not only that, but when you work at your destination, you’ll have the chance to develop meaningful connections with the local community.
