Why living in Canada is one of the best choices for immigrants

Living in Canada is one of the best choices immigrants can make because it is rated as the number one country that offers the best quality of life in the world.

Canada will celebrate its 154th year as a country on the 1st of July in 2021 on Canada Day.

Although the country only became a federation with its own constitution in 1867, people were living in Canada thousands of years before that.

To live and work in Canada means to thrive daily in one of the most multicultural and strongest nations in the world. Apart from its diverse and cultural appeal, it is simply one of the best places for immigrants to live in because it is so much more stable than most countries.

Canada’s open approach to accepting foreigners from all over the world to live and work in the country doesn’t only support the initiative to make a positive contribution to their ever-growing economy. It is also done to extend a helping hand in allowing immigrants to settle down in a country that could potentially offer them more than their home country can. This includes financial security because Canada has the 9th largest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and also safety, ranking as the 11th safest country globally.

Since the country leads as one of the top that meet the needs of all people, and not only those who have status or wealth, there are more than just a few reasons why it is the best country to live in for immigrants. Let's take a closer look at those reasons.

Reasons why immigrants won’t regret living in Canada

1. Endless opportunities
If you're living in a country where it's too difficult to find a job, or perhaps you are struggling to study in the field that you would like to, don’t worry.

Canada has the 10th biggest economy in the world, which means that the country is boasting job opportunities that need to be filled by both high and low-skilled workers. Although Canada has seen an increase in its unemployment rate to 8.2% in June 2021, this is set to decrease by 2022, promising even more jobs for both locals and foreigners.

As it stands, Canada is still looking for skilled workers to fill jobs in many in-demand fields, the top of which include:

  • Registered nurse
  • Sales associate
  • Commercial vehicle driver
  • Receptionist
  • Web developer
  • Welder
  • Business development manager
  • General laborer
  • Heavy-duty mechanic
  • and more

Canada is a highly fair country that offers all of its workers competitive wages.

2. Temporary workers are welcome at any time
While many people require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), temporary workers, like those working in agriculture or the meat and food processing industries, don’t require it. With many countries closing their borders to immigrants or foreigners with green cards, Canada remains open to immigrants that want to live and work in Canada. Currently, approximately 4,000 immigrants are receiving Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through the Express Entry System to move to Canada.

3. Work and life benefits
Apart from offering countless jobs with high-paying salaries, local companies offer many work benefits too, with most full-time employees only being permitted to work 36 to 40-hours per week on average with two to three weeks of paid vacation annually. Women expecting can also enjoy longer durations of maternity leave, where fathers get partly paid, between 33 percent and 55 percent, parental leave days.
To make things even better, Canada also offers free healthcare to anyone living in the country.

4. Supportive communities and government culture
The Canadian government is planning to invite 341,000 foreigners to apply for Canadian permanent residence (learn more here how to become a Canadian Permanent Resident). They are inclusive and socially accepting of all people.

The country has over 200 languages and more than 250 different cultural groups, which is a testament to their welcoming approach for all.

If you're planning on moving to Canada and would like some guidance or support, you can look at the Newcomers Support Program. Additionally, there are many online communities from multiple countries worldwide that have already immigrated to Canada and can be of help to you.

5. Quality of life
As a country ranked number one to offer the best quality of life compared to any other country, there’s more than one reason why Canada is the number one choice for immigrants.

Living in Canada is more than a dream for the majority of foreigners. It offers a world-class experience of growth, prosperity, and stability that is unlike anywhere else.

With 90 percent of Canadians claiming to be content with their work, which is much higher than the global 65 percent average, if you are looking to live and work somewhere great, including raising your family in a stable economy and safe environment, then Canada is the place for you.
