Accor in Indonesia has established itself as the largest and most dynamic international hotel management company in Indonesia in just over 10 years.

The company opened its Jakarta regional sales office in 1993, and began managing the Ibis Kemayoran the following year in 1994. This started Accor`s impressive expansion to its current portfolio of 31 hotels and serviced apartments in key resort and business destinations around the country.

These includes 8 Ibis hotels, 7 Mercure hotels and residence, 7 Novotel business hotels, 3 Novotel Coralia resort hotels, 2 Sofitels and 2 unbranded associated properties with a total inventory of 5,549 rooms. Accor hotels can now be found in most major cities within the country including Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Lombok and Bali.

Accor has been a pioneer in these destinations by offering international standard accommodation at a fair price, providing the necessary infrastructure to cater to an ever-growing numbers of visitors.

Accor hotels have been very successful in the international leisure market, with new brochures and products encouraging in-bound travelers to go beyond Bali and discover other resort destinations such as Lombok, Yogyakarta and Solo in Java and Bukittinggi in Sumatera.

These areas offer remarkable potential. The resort island of Lombok is considered by many as an `emerging Bali`, and tourists looking to discover something new find the regions around Medan and Bukittinggi very inspiring.

With its Ibis and Mercure brands, no other international hotel group in Indonesia commands such a dominant position in the mid-range market, identified throughout the Asia Pacific region as the fastest growing sector of the hotel and hospitality industry.

Accor`s extensive international sales, marketing and reservations network supports the company`s rapidly expanding hotel portfolio. This is complemented by adaptable training programs imported from the Accor Academie in Paris, providing important job skills and management opportunities to its Indonesian workforce.

The pace of Accor`s development has been promoted through strategic partnership agreements with prominent local companies. This innovative partnership strategy has been a major factor of the company`s growth in Indonesia and remains a cornerstone for future development.

Accor provides professional services with a range of expertise, from hotel conception through to technical advice in design and construction fit-out, pre-opening planning and finally experienced and professional hotel management and operation.

However, Accor`s commitment to the country extends beyond its commercial interests. In 2001 Accor in Indonesia launched `A Tree for a Child`, an ongoing social and environmental program that intends to alleviate poverty and provide underprivileged children the opportunity to grow up in healthy and happy surroundings. `A Tree for a Child` creatively recycles hotel waste, and then uses the proceeds to plant fast growing trees that improve the environment and provide additional funding for children`s schools and health care clinics.
