Booking in advance most common way to save on hotels

When asked how they save on hotels, 45% of travelers book rooms far in advance, according to a survey conducted by GO Airport Express, which provides airport shuttles to and from O'Hare International Airport and  Midway Airport. More than 620 people participated in the survey, in which they were allowed to provide multiple answers.

CHICAGO – 31% of respondents use organizations’ membership discounts, such as AAA and AARP to reduce hotel costs. Using online services such as Priceline.com are used by 26% percent of respondents with hotel loyalty programs close behind at 25 percent.

Just under 15% rely on their employers for negotiated corporate rate. Traveling during off peak times and using frequent flyer points for hotel rooms tied at 11%. 7% noted they look for last minute deals while 12% don’t use any strategies at all to save on hotels.  6% checked they use all options listed that were listed in the survey.  

Write-in suggestions included using government discounts and discounted rates offered through convention sites.
