Local property wins prestigious Hotel of the Year award.
ROCKVILLE, MD. – Choice Hotels International, Inc. recognized the Econo Lodge Hotel in Rochester as a winner of its 2014 Hotel of the Year Award – its third such award over the past five years. This distinction was announced recently at the 60th annual Choice Hotels International Convention in Las Vegas.
“Our mission has always been to provide a stellar experience for each of our guests and exceed their expectations,” said Mike Jacobson, owner and general manager of the Econo Lodge in Rochester. “Each decision we’ve made for our hotel has been focused on achieving that mission and ensuring that each guest feels at home throughout their stay.”
The Hotel of the Year Award is presented by the Choice Hotels Owners Council each year to a property that consistently demonstrates lodging excellence. Nominees for this prestigious award are recognized as the top properties within the brand.

In 2013, the Econo Lodge Rochester underwent significant improvements to ensure the continued satisfaction of their guests, including the addition of an elevator, a fitness room and business center. The 62 room property also boasts free Wi-Fi access, healthy and hearty breakfast options and in-room coffee, refrigerators and microwaves. Given the hotel’s proximity to the local Mayo Clinic, a number of the guests who visit the Econo Lodge are former patients and families of patients. The property has taken a number of steps to ensure their comfort, including free shuttle service to the Mayo Clinic complex and a partnership with a local nursing service to provide outpatient care for an additional fee.
