Fairfield Inn & Suites hotel to open in in Waterbury, Vermont

WATERBURY, VERMONT –  The 84-room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in Waterbury, Vermont is scheduled to open in late November. Located at 1017 Waterbury Stowe Road, the Fairfield Inn & Suites Waterbury Stowe will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned and managed by Larkin Hospitality of Burlington, Vermont.

Located two minutes from Main Street Waterbury and 24 miles from Burlington International Airport, the hotel offers guests convenient access to Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory, Green Mountain Coffee Visitor’s Center & Cafe, Stowe Mountain Resort, Sugarbush Resort and the Prohibition Pig and Hen of the Wood restaurants.

“We are pleased to introduce Fairfield Inn & Suites hotels in the Waterbury area,” said Shruti Buckley, vice president and global brand manager, Fairfield Inn & Suites. “We look forward to welcoming guests and providing the friendly service that sets Fairfield Inn & Suites apart.”

Upon entering the hotel lobby, guests experience a warm and inviting rustic lodge atmosphere featuring stylized wood grain translucent panels flanked by reclaimed teak wood planks on the registration feature wall, reclaimed wood cabinetry, and a magnificent burnished finished brass ring chandelier set against a ceiling of found teak wood. The public areas meet the needs of its productivity-oriented guests with its modernized and contemporary approach to the classic lodge, providing both vacationing and business guests with ample connectivity options, along with more casual and informal areas for relaxation. Guests may rest and relax by the impressive stone fireplace in the lobby or even enjoy a swim in the inviting indoor pool, which boasts a spa-like atmosphere with its surroundings of rich stone and wood elements.

The new Fairfield Inn and Suites Waterbury Stowe also will incorporate a historic portion of the property, formerly operated as the Thatcher Brook Inn. Burlington-based Larkin Hospitality purchased the 1.7-acre property in 2011 with the intention of linking the history of the area with the future. John Larkin, the company’s founder, had the vision for this project and now his son Joe is continuing his legacy.

“As a family, we are quite proud of this hotel,” said Joe Larkin, CFO of Larkin Hospitality. “While this is our 11th hotel that we own and operate, it is our first Marriott branded property and our first property in Waterbury. We know this Fairfield Inn & Suites will be a great addition to the community and valuable resource for visitors to the area.”

The design concept reflects many nature-inspired materials indigenous to Vermont. The flooring consists of wood look parquet tile and carpet inspired by the warm color palette of the area’s stunning fall foliage. The furnishings were selected to be interesting focal points, such as the feature communal farm table made by local artisans from reclaimed pine and surrounded by solid birch stools with warm, weathered black stain and iron stretchers. A polished nickel ring chandelier with Edison style vintage antique light bulbs complements the rustic farm table with its minimalist style and metallic composition. The contextually inspired barn-style doors at the entrance to the breakfast buffet bring a rustic feel to the contemporary look of the solid stone counters of the buffet.

The locale inspired guest rooms feature an accent wall with a stunning paneled effect.  Guests enjoy a soothing color palette of pale gray, graphite and warm browns with accents of celadon and wheat. The hotel’s six signature king suites boast a fireplace with hand-polished concrete surround, wet bar with solid stone counter, and handmade saffron color clay tile backsplash, as well as bathrooms with double sink vanities and walk in showers.
