Hotel prices in Athens at a record level
In comparison with other European capital cities London is the most expensive in respect of overnight costs. On the other hand rooms in the previously most expensive European city, Moscow “only” cost £76.02 on average and are almost 40% less than a year ago. Due to the low exchange rate for the Rouble the Russian capital is attractive with its many sights such as the Kremlin, the old city, St. Basil’s Cathedral and the well-known shopping street, Arbat, but especially with considerably lower travel costs.
Many other large cities in Euroland have also become cheaper. Especially in Paris (£103.93), Amsterdam (£97.37) and Rome (£76.72) travellers from the UK were able to save an average of 20%.
It is quite different in Athens: Here the prices have increased considerably. Many TV companies and members of the media are there to report on current events and developments. Overnight costs here have risen by more than 35 % to £88.92.
