Hotel Supetar Cavtat announces launch of SupetART, a monthly artist-in-residence program

  • Hotel Supetar Cavtat

New dynamic cultural initiative premieres this September.

CAVTAT, CROATIA  –  Hotel Supetar Cavtat announces SupetART, a new artist-in-residence program at the boutique hotel in Cavtat, Croatia. A monthly rotation of both local and national artists, SupetART transforms Hotel Supetar’s communal spaces into a month-long interactive pop-up gallery. Curated in partnership with esteemed Croatian art consultancy agency SHPIGL, the exhibition provides a platform for travelers to engage with artists and immerse themselves into Croatian culture. Each event kicks-off with an opening reception and informal discussion with the artist.

Throughout the month of September, the Artist-in-Residence featured is Iva Laterza Obuljen. Obuljen, a Dubrovnik native with a background in architecture and visual arts, specializes in vibrant and dynamic paintings and photographs. Her three collections – “Trajectories,” “Lines,” and “Remains of the Day” are currently prominently featured throughout the hotel. Local art curator Jelena Taminđija Donnart describes Obuljen’s art as an evolving abstract narrative. She likens her creative process to muscle development — requiring constant exercise and periods of rest to form a rhythm. With each new piece, the flow of ideas and their translation onto the canvas becomes increasingly intense.

Located minutes from historic Dubrovnik, Hotel Supetar Cavtat is housed in a recently restored 1920s villa. The luxury boutique hotel is perfectly situated between the cobblestone streets of Cavtat and the Adriatic Sea, featuring 16 unique rooms that boast either garden or sea views.

The SupetART artist-in-residence program is slated to be a continuing initiative and a cornerstone of Hotel Supetar Cavtat’s commitment to art and culture.
