Hotel Valldemossa, It Mallorca’s sixth property on the Balearic islands opened its doors late February 2024

Hotel Valldemossa

A manor house nestled in the Sierra de Tramuntana – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – Hotel Valldemossa is just a ten-minute stroll from the quaint village of the same name which was once described by world renowned nineteenth century composer, Frédéric Chopin, as “the most beautiful place in the world.”

High-end boutique hotel portfolio, It Mallorca, announce that their sixth property, Hotel Valldemossa, is now officially open. Below, we invite you to discover the new boutique hotel through its just released imagery.

Once part of the Royal Charterhouse Palace, Hotel Valldemossa is now a destination in itself with twelve adult-only exclusive rooms offering panoramic views of Mallorca, an indoor and outdoor pool, a spa known as the Sanctuary, and renowned gastronomic space, De Tokio a Lima – an outpost from Palma de Mallorca serving a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine with a Mediterranean twist.

Rooms & Suites

Hotel Valldemossa features twelve exclusive rooms – 4 Deluxe Terrace Rooms, 7 Junior Suites, and 1 Valldemossa Suite – each with large private terraces overlooking the hotel’s vast and lush grounds (olive grove and orchard included!). Interiors embrace the French aesthetic of the 1950s with original furniture by Charlotte Perriand, Le Corbusier, and Miguel Mila. Merging tradition and design in open and inviting spaces is a signature of It Mallorca where avant-garde design contrasts with a building’s rich history. Terracotta flooring, old wooden beams, and an earthy colour palette give Hotel Valldemossa a feeling of sanctuary. A home away from home.

The hotel’s signature Valldemossa Suite encompasses a 65 sq m space where wooden beams coexist with other original materials and designer furniture. Guests can look forward to enjoying its indoor lounge, spacious terrace with jacuzzi, and breathtaking views of the valley and La Cartuja. An added bonus? It is located next to the hotel’s spa – the Sanctuary – and outdoor pool, meaning guests are mere steps away from deep relaxation.

Sanctuary at Hotel Valldemossa

A healing space in communion with nature, the Sanctuary at Hotel Valldemossa is where body and soul become an inseparable unity. Unique to Hotel Valldemossa will be a programme inspired by traditional Chinese medicine and the Western wisdom of lymphatic drainage – “Valldemossa Longevity.” Under the direction of Amor Garzon, pioneer of the Piroche method – which combines drainage, massage, and essential oils – the Sanctuary is a place that provides both physical and mental therapy. Other rituals include Nature Healing, Sport Detox, Green Beauty, No Stress, and For You.

Village Life

A short ten-minute walk away from the hotel is the picturesque village of Valldemossa, surrounded by lush olive and almond trees. Untouched by time, the village is famous for its cobbled streets lined with cafes, shops, and art galleries. Its surrounding area is world renowned with hiking and cycling enthusiasts alike, making Hotel Valldemossa the perfect base. Cyclists can choose between relaxed routes on rural roads or the challenging ascent to Sa Calobra – a winding path leading to iconic lighthouses, historic castles, and secret coves. Hotel Valldemossa also offers bike rental, guided routes, maps with personalised routes directly from the hotel, a repair workshop and bike cleaning facilities.

De Tokio a Lima

Perhaps Mallorca’s best kept secret is its gastronomy scene. Another of It Mallorca’s hotels – Can Alomar – is home to restaurant, De Tokio a Lima, in the heart of Palma. Now, Hotel Valldemossa houses its second outpost. A fusion of Japanese and Peruvian flavours with a Mediterranean twist; De Tokio a Lima is a must for all foodies. At Hotel Valldemossa, the restaurant not only offers creative seasonal cuisine, but it also offers stunning views of La Cartuja. Chef German Bernardi – culinary director of It Mallorca’s kitchens, and Chef Ricardo Rossi – nicknamed the king of red shrimp, have devised a menu that is full of colour and surprising flavours. Classics include vegetable ceviche, sirloin tataki, and their creamy Soller lemon cake which has become somewhat famous.

Restoration & Revival of Mallorcan Architecture

Every hotel in the portfolio is a passion project for Owner, Miguel Conde, and his architect wife, Cristina Marti, who in 2011 opened their first hotel, Can Cera, in the heart of Palma de Mallorca. Preserving Mallorca’s unparalleled beauty for both locals and visitors and further establishing the island as a must-visit destination for a memorable holiday has always been the driving force. Their decision to lovingly renovate vulnerable buildings and breathe new life into historic palaces and aristocratic mansions is rooted in a deep passion and connection to the culture of Mallorca.

Art

A special highlight for every art lover is the works of art created in collaboration with local artists, which decorate the public spaces and rooms in all It Mallorca hotels. Among the artists are up and coming and already well-known names such as Jordi Alcaraz, Jaume Roig and Roland Fischeror. The stylish balance of art, curated design, antique treasures, fine fabrics, and modern design elements give each hotel its very own special charm. All hotels have a ‘home away from home’ feeling in common – attention to detail, courteous gestures and personal recommendations for every guest’s visit make each stay unique.

Owner, Miguel Conde, comments: “Hotel Valldemossa is the first of its kind within the It Mallorca portfolio. It is deep rooted in history, and has had new life breathed into it like with our other five properties, but the difference is the feeling. A sanctuary. An oasis of calm in the small village of Valldemossa. We look forward to welcoming our first guests this Springand inviting them to experience the wonder of Hotel Valldemossa.”
