The Hyatt<.> Regency has grand plans for a luxury hotel, conference and exhibition centre to be built on a 42-stremmata property along Kifissias Ave, near the Olympic Stadium. The firm`s ambitious plan, which it considers a top priority, is expected to cost more than 35 billion drachmas.

A rise in figures for the Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki`s casino has been recorded. Turnover for 1999 increased to 44.3 billion drachmas compared to 35.9 drachmas for the previous year while profits climbed to 11.31 billion drachmas from 6.29 billion drachmas. For the 2000 financial year, the firm anticipates a turnover figure of over 49 billion drachmas and profits of 13.6 billion drachmas.
