InterContinental Le Grand Hotel Paris, an institution of Parisian society since 1862, is to re-open its doors this month following a multi-million pound renovation project.

This extensive multi million pound renovation project, includes the refurbishment of 479 guest rooms – 280 of which will open in this month, a brand new Club InterContinental floor opening in May and three floors of lavish Prestige Suites with views of L`Opera Garnier. The hotel will also open a new cardio-fitness centre in June. The hotel`s spectacular Grand Opera Salon, beloved by the fashion houses for the launches of their new collections, has also undergone massive restoration. This successfully combined the most modern facilities, and an unparalleled level of service with the magnificence and splendor of the French Second Empire.

The hotel`s brasserie – the Cafe de la Paix – is possibly the most famous cafe in Paris, attracting a number of famous poets, politicians, philosophers and painters. Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of Sherlock Holmes, and Oscar Wilde were also regular customers. The Cafe has been entirely restored under the watchful eye of the Beaux-Arts, with special attention paid to the historic ornate ceilings.

Guests who take advantage of InterContinental Hotels` hospitality can relax in a haven of effortless efficiency, where the staff thinks ahead of every traveller`s needs. Innovations include a handy currency pack of change to help pay tips on arrival in a new country, shoulder massages to relax tension from long flights and insights to the hottest places in town from InterContinental Hotels` Insider Concierge service – we know what it takes.

Over the decades the prestigious hotel has become an historic Parisian landmark. Set in the very centre of Paris at Place de l`Opera, InterContinental Le Grand Hotel Paris neighbours the famous Opera Garnier and has attracted a number of its famous composers. The hotel has long been a second home to the influential, sovereigns and heads of state. Guests through the years have included the Tsar of Russia, Victor Hugo, Salvador Dali, Roman Polanski and Christian LaCroix.

A special introductory rate of €450 per room, per night is being offered until 31 August 2003.
