JOI-Design wins two European Hotel Awards

The accolades were bestowed last month upon JOI-Design before the leading lights of the hospitality industry at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

LONDON – JOI-Design has won two European Hotel Awards, Best Hotel Interior Luxembourg for its en vogue transformation of Le Clervaux Boutique & Design Hotel, and Best Hotel Interior Germany for its verdant reimagining of the Hilton Munich Park. Part of the respected International Hotel Awards sponsored by EY and Virgin Atlantic, the accolades were bestowed last month upon JOI-Design before the leading lights of the hospitality industry at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

Peter Joehnk and Corinna Kretschmar-Joehnk, co-managing directors of JOI-Design Le Clervaux Boutique & Design Hotel was transformed by JOI-Design into the most stylish destination in Clervaux, a picturesque medieval village in the mountains of northern Luxembourg renowned for its outdoor lifestyle and gourmet cuisine. Opening to widespread acclaim in September 2012, the restored hotel now is graced with 22 new spa suites and completely refashioned F&B areas. The team’s design’s concept preserves the unique character of the estate, in part dating back to the early 1900s, while also creating a stylish spa destination to attract new tourists to Clervaux.

By blending stylised baroque elements with contemporary features spiced-up with wit and delightfully unexpected details, JOI-Design has conceived a “modern baroque” flair that is seamlessly integrated with the building’s heritage.

The creative studio won its second European Hotel Award for an inspired concept which weaves the interiors of the Hilton Munich Park with its spectacular creekside location within the city’s Englischer Garten. This idyllic scenery influenced the sophisticated style now imbued within all the public areas and 485 bedrooms and suites following its complete renovation in 2012. Layered details, expert spaceplanning and clever techniques to direct visual focus have brought this conference centre destination the smart flair and cohesive design more often found in boutique hotel experiences.
