Going from strength to strength, The Leading Hotels<.> of the World, Ltd, announced 38 new member hotels in its 2002 Directory. The new additions bring membership to an all-time high, with almost 400 hotels in the portfolio and include hotels from Russia to Rafasthan and the renowned Trump International Hotel & Tower in New York to the newly built Grand Resort Lagonissi which opens in Athens, Greece, this summer.

The 2002 Directory cover design, from the house of Omega, the renowned Swiss watch company, celebrates the concept of perfection, accomplishment and dedication to excellence – fundamental ideals held by both Omega and The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd.

In 2002, The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd will accelerate plans for continued business expansion in the luxury sector. Working in conjunction with Arthur Andersen LLP, The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. is making plans to continue to aggressively expand its product line in its bid to be the preeminent provider of products and services to luxury hotels and to the luxury marketplace.

Paul McManus, President & Chief Executive Officer, reports that the company has received more inquiries for membership, than ever before, owing to its brand strength. In the current economy, many luxury-oriented companies are scaling back plans for expansion, Mr. McManus explains, The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd., on the other hand, views this as the perfect time for us to expedite our plans to launch joint ventures. We believe this business climate offers tremendous opportunities for us to provide additional benefits to the luxury hotel any marketplace.

In 2000, The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. began a strategic growth programme through the launch of four joint venture companies: Leading Group Sales (providing group sales to member hotels), Leading Financial Services (for travel agent commission processing), Leading Marketing Services (a full-service advertising and marketing firm), and Leading Quality Assurance (defining luxury hotel standards). The company continued its growth in 2001 through the creation of Leading Interactive Reservations (an e-commerce based travel organisation).

As a result of in-depth market research and business plan development with Arthur Andersen, The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. is maintaining the momentum created by the initial successful joint venture launches and will expedite plans to expand its product line with a series of new opportunities. These will include Leading Career Services (for luxury hotel employment recruiting services); enhanced financial services opportunities through Leading Financial Services; and The Leading Hotel Schools of the World (to be launched in mid-2002).
