The newest hotel in the Democratic Republic of Congo offers world-class amenities and continues a reputation of excellence in the region

ATLANTA – Valor Hospitality Partners, an industry-leading, global hospitality management company, continues to expand their global portfolio with the opening of Hilton Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This hotel is Valor Hospitality Partners’ first property in West Africa and coincides with the decade anniversary of the fully integrated management and operations solution organization’s transformation of the African hospitality landscape.

Over the past ten years, Valor has gained widespread acceptance across Africa, working with esteemed hotel brands such as IHG and Hilton.

“Our approach to each property is bespoke, reflecting the diversity of the properties we manage in Africa,” said Michael Pownall, managing partner of Africa, Middle East and CIS for Valor Hospitality Partners. “If you look at the type of properties we run in Africa, they’re all very diverse. Our commitment is to personalize each experience, catering to what our clients truly want.”

In 2023, Valor expanded its African portfolio by assuming management of Hilton Kinshasa, highlighting its dedication to strengthening its presence in key African markets and the ability to manage a diverse spectrum of hospitality experiences.

With panoramic views across Kinshasa and the Congo River, Hilton Kinshasa is centrally located in the business and shopping district of La Gombe, with the ferry crossing to Brazzaville, a five-minute walk from the property. The hotel is adjacent to the Congo Trade Centre, close to the United States Embassy and offers VIP transfers to N’djili International Airport. Other attractions include the Kinshasa Golf Course and the Pentecost Martyrs Stadium.

“This inaugural Valor property in West Africa has opened to great acclaim. Hilton Kinshasa is a milestone achievement that reiterates our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional guest service on a global scale while also providing top-tier accommodation offerings and experiences,” said Euan McGlashan, global co-founder, and CEO of Valor Hospitality Partners. “With a portfolio of notable properties around the world and a ten-year dedication to excellence in Africa, we are confident Hilton Kinshasa adds to our burgeoning reputation of offering branded hospitality excellence.”

Hilton Kinshasa offers 178 rooms and suites, business lounges, an executive lounge and a private pool terrace with cocktail and lounge seating, an expansive library and 12 conference and event spaces – including a ballroom, eight banquet rooms and a wedding lounge. The hotel also features an impressive food and beverage offering for travelers, including a French bistro, sports bar, lobby bar and a modern eatery.

“We are thrilled to have opened the highly anticipated Hilton Kinshasa on time after an accelerated 3-month preopening period,” said Marc Frere, general manager of Hilton Kinshasa. “Valor mobilized a global task team to achieve the target opening date and we are proud to offer our guests Hilton’s renowned hospitality. The property features an extraordinary blend of Congolese hospitality, exquisite design inspired by the local culture and unique experiences that are creating cherished memories to last a lifetime.”

Looking forward, Valor envisions a future where technology, sustainability and experiential hospitality take center stage in Africa.

“The essence of true hospitality is timeless, and the principles haven’t changed,” said Pownall. “It’s about creating an emotional connection with guests, giving more than they expect and more than they feel they deserve. Our plan for the next decade includes nurturing a new generation of hospitality leaders and expanding our footprint in Africa with a focus on local expertise and community engagement.”
