Volotea celebrates 18 million passengers

A year-long free flight prize has been awarded to the 18-millionth passenger.

Volotea, the airline of mid and small-sized European cities, celebrates in Venice its 18-millionth passenger carried since operations started in 2012. The airline operates 293 routes connecting 78 cities in 13 European countries and expects to carry between 5.7 and 6 million passengers this year.

Volotea has reached today its 18 million passenger since operations started in April 2012. In an event hosted at Venice airport, Mariaelena Zanocco was awarded with a year-long free flights prize to any destination from Venice before taking her flight Venice to Bordeaux.

“Eighteen million passengers carried since 2012 demonstrates our continuous and significant growth. This year we continue adding new routes all across our network, offering non-stop connections to mid and small-sized European cities, widening our clients’ travel choice at convenient fares”, Carlos Munoz, Volotea’s Founder and CEO stated.

Volotea has recently reinforced its shareholder base adding five private equity firms and family offices based in the United States (including Elysium LLC and HRS Management) and Europe (including Meridia Capital, Rijn Capital and Rocinante) as strong, prestigious and long-term shareholders to help fund the company’s huge growth potential. Volotea’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer Carlos Munoz, as well as its core management team, increased their investment in the company, reaffirming a strong commitment to the airline’s strategy.
