ACI Europe partners with RE-Source

Accelerating clean energy transition at Europe’s airports & deliver NetZero2050.

AMSTERDAM – European airport trade association, ACI Europe signs a key cooperation agreement with the RE-Source Platform, the European alliance of stakeholders for corporate renewable energy sourcing, at its annual event in Amsterdam. This new partnership will facilitate the clean energy transition at Europe’s airports, empowering them to deliver on their objective to reach Net Zero by 2050 for carbon emissions under their control(1). The involvement of the airport industry in RE-Source adds to the building momentum for corporate energy sourcing, which will help meeting Europe’s target to reach 32% of its energy from renewables by 2030.

RE-Source brings together clean energy buyers and suppliers in order to promote a better framework for corporate energy sourcing both at the EU and national levels. Founded by SolarPower Europe, WindEurope, RE100 and the WBCSD, RE-Source is focused on supporting the development and deployment of renewable energy sources by promoting new business models and improving policies & regulations(2).

Olivier Jankovec, Director General ACI Europe commented “On average, switching to clean energy supply offers the potential to reduce an airport’s own carbon footprint by -60%. This means that access to renewable energy at competitive prices and under a stable regulatory & contractual framework is of paramount importance for the European airport industry to deliver on its NetZero2050 commitment. To succeed, we need strategic partnerships – and this is what ACI EUROPE’s involvement in RE-Source is about. This will provide our members with the latest tools & information to help them drive their transition to clean energy sourcing. This will also allow us to play our part in pushing for the removal of administrative and regulatory hurdles to the development of renewable energy and its sourcing by corporates.”
