Regenerative Travel to host Post-COP27 Regenerative Retreat for Future Climate Leaders

Basata Eco-lodge, South Sinai, Egypt: November 17-20, 2022.

NEW YORK - Regenerative Travel, a benefit corporation and a collection of independent hotels and lodges committed to regenerative hospitality, announce its first Regenerative Retreat. Aligning with Regenerative Travel's mission of engaging an international community to drive change, the retreat will foster deeper connections and collaboration among the next generation of climate leaders. The retreat is being held at Basata Eco-lodge, a Regenerative Hotel in the South Sinai Mountains 2.5 hours south of the COP 27 conference in Cairo.

Tucked between two desert hills and overlooking the soothing Red Sea in South Sinai, Egypt, Basata Eco-lodge values simplicity and respect for its surrounding environment and native Bedouin culture above all else. Basata Eco-lodge provides the perfect base to harness the power of diverse climate knowledge and collaboration to dissect the key takeaways from what is set to be the most important COP to date. Attendees will be encouraged to discuss strategies to challenge the systems in place and drive change with the mutual goal of combating climate issues.

Programming has been designed in order to allow time for attendees to embrace the slow-living culture of the Bedouin, reset and provide ample opportunities to connect one on one with other attendees. Itinerary highlights include:

  • Intention-setting ceremony on arrival
  • Sunset Drinks & Post COP Reflection Circle led by the hosting committee
  • Guided snorkelling at Basata’s house reef
  • Creative Climate Storytelling Exercise
  • Bedouin Cultural Exchange including a lesson in traditional bread preparation, lunch prepared by local Bedouin women and a sunset hike into the Basata Valley for a starlit dinner with the Bedouin
  • Closing Circle Fireside Dinner on the beach organised as a community forming, ‘think tank’ opportunity to reflect on COP & the retreat
